Prosthodontist
qualified, recognized, specialized™
A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Prosthodontists have several years of additional training after dental school, learning the most advanced techniques, to provide the patient with natural tooth restoration or replacement.
A prosthodontist often works in a team, with your own dentist and other specialists, in the role of architect, designing the optimal treatment plan on a case by case basis. In Canada, qualified prosthodontists are recognized by the Canadian Dental Association.
A word on Cosmetic Dentists
Complex treatment requires expertise
Many of our patients are surprised to learn that unlike orthodontists, oral surgeons, periodonists or prosthodontists, cosmetic dentists are not recognized specialists. That’s right— all dentists are cosmetic dentists!
Complex treatment involving appearance and function often requires the expertise of a Prosthodontist (often working with a team of dental specialists) to achieve a successful result.
